Shock Horror

Ambassador of the Guitarded
Couple of weeks back I run into a friend and tell him I think my Taylor 616ce action is too high. This bloke has been gigging and teaching for almost 50 years so he knows his sh*t. Today he arrives with 4 acoustic guitars to show me how he sets them up and to look at mine. SHOCK & HORROR his Taylor is now retro fitted with "Tronical" tuners the same as on my Gibson SG.

This bloke has super skill but simply said "Why not? They're accurate and FAST"
Even old established teachers are being converted to auto tune systems.

I like the tronicals on my LES PAUL JR P-90 DOG EAR guitar.......actually LOVE them.....they have not given me any issues.....

I am in that same boat, mine have not given me any issues yet. Plus I like that there are no screw holes to deal with if I do decide to change.

Its disturbing that the propaganda says Taylor in text, but the open book headstock screams Gibby.

I strongly suspect one photo for each "tuner type" is all they wanted.
To show each tuner type mounted on every guitar would fill pages.
I did play a Taylor set up with an over the counter Tronical system.

I tune my guitars.
They stay in tune.
They are not broken.
I am not gonna "fix" them.

And I'm not going out to buy kits for my guitars either.
I think the point is these things got a bad reception but as people think about them with an open mind they're gaining traction in the market.
As my friend said, "Why not? They're accurate and FAST".
Lots of products out there selling well that are totally unnecessary, just do things differently than the original.

Hmmmm....my tuning always stays stable, so I see no need for them....

I bought at least 5 guitars with them. While they worked I hated the look and they were all
removed and sold to people who like them. I also think a string change sounds complicated
though I never tried one so it's speculation based on reading the instructions...

I also can not stand the sound and feel when hand tuning one if the battery is dead...

So far I've left them on my two 2015 Gibson Blowouts from Sam Ash. I played a NYE gig with some friends at a bar, & tested the accuracy against my Shure wireless pedal. In the single string tune mode, it's spot on with the tuner in the pedal. The other band mates like to watch the little lights change as it's working, haha. The string down/up mode is really quick for changing strings. Ya, they certainly have a look to them, (not so attractive) but if I stay facing forward, no one in the audience sees what I have, lol. Mine are staying on till they break.

Thanks for the real world usage feedback Ultra!

I agree looks wise they "throw off" the vintage vibe of my Les Paul Jr. --- but only if you are a guitarded gear whore like me --- most people wouldnt know the difference--- nor does anyone in the audience care......they are listening to the song and grooving to the music.
Sort of like this gang......I dont give two craps if my mechanic uses SNAP ON tools or HUSKY brand from Lowes --- as long as he fixes my car and it works---- he can use a wood block and anvil---

Tronicals are a tool -- if you like them cool--- if you dont your a fool ---now go play some pool
(not really but it rhymed nice so I did it --- BUWAHAHAHAHA)
NO ONE IS A FOOL (perhaps me) do not send hate mail
We do not need a committee to decide if this was offensive
NO Im not deleting the post.

LAUGH PEOPLE

I am grateful to have no tuning stability issues, so no need to "fix" anything...

How you liking your Jr eSGe? I love my Special DC with the two soap bars & the Less Plus with them also. The special has pretty much became #1 along with my Gretsch Pro Jet, but I've really got a thing for P90's lately. Damn what a sound! Especially at volume with a good amp!
