Shipping costs for a bass guitar?

I find that I need to return my Ibanez bass, which has developed a bow in the neck that I don’t think the truss rod will correct. If I had realized what was going on and sent it back within 30 days, they woulda paid shipping, but now it’s considered a warranty claim and the shipping is on me.

I don’t do a lot of this. What should it cost to ship a bass guitar from Santa Rosa to Nashville TN? Any guesses? Would it cost less to have it fixed locally?

Go to UPS.com and use their shipping estimator.
Put in the box dimensions and weight, to and from address, and you'll get an amount.
Create a free account and you'll get a discount.
Print a label and drop it off.

Whoah! It’s a lot. Like, $200 a lot. Even USPS was $165. And that’s before the expense of packing materials. Yikes.

So I took it over to Emmett O’Hara. He said he could get it where I wanted it and charge me way less. So he’s voiding my warranty even as I type this. I’ll trust Emmett way before I’d trust whatever monkey Adorama was gonna give it to. And I can have it back on Tuesday.
