Sh!t

Well this is NOT going to be an easy job. The picture below is the oil filter housing and you can see that the hollow threaded area where the filter screws on to is all one piece with the housing. This threaded section is what broke and this whole piece needs to be replaced. A bunch of sh!t needs to be removed from the front of the engine in order to get to the all of bolts. Looks like I'll be working on my guitar today, not the car.

Guitar is better, but don't you need the car?

Yes I need the car, but I don't have the parts I need to fix it. I do have the stuff to work on my guitar and a 1 week vacation between Christmas and New Years so I can really dig into the car.

Started the day by tunging my LeSG. While it dried I got the front end of the car apart, replaced the broken oil filter housing pictured above and will put all the front end back tomorrow. Ended the day with another tung lashing on the LeSG. I am tucking fired.

Gonna start the tomorrow applying more tung with 600 grit wet/dry sand paper, then back to the car. I broke some of the 12 year old plastic clips that hold the inner fender well in place, so a trip to the Mitsubishi dealer is also on my list of to-dos tomorrow. Before the sun goes down I'm gonna sand in more tung. I might have it ready to install all the parts and wire it up this weekend.... maybe. I might have a car I can drive too this weekend... maybe.

Kick it's a$$ Wav! You'll have it all together soon...one running smooth and one playing sweet!

Got one ;)

put stiffer suspension on it a few years back---- rebuilt the engine at 150K (had a tiny head gasket leak I figured--- hey MIGHT AS WELL-- since the engine comes out to change the head gaskets----
Fastest crate in the Galaxy ;) --- no really --- this thing goes light to light off the line like a damn rocket --- ALl wheel drive is the poop.

My friend Arthur is a tribal elder and public health doc on a res in Nevada so remote, you need all wheel drive to get there and it's a long drive to the Autozone! His Outback wagon must have a million miles plus by now. However solid and reliable it is, the ride is on a par with a WW II Willy's jeep. I swear I'll never ride in it again, after every ride.

Could the terrain be coloring your perception of the ride?
Nope, pretty sure it's the tires, rims, suspension, seat bottom and frame pounding my lower lumbar region whether on Virginia street in Reno or some goat path in the cascades.

Not to interrupt your scooby doo thread, but my car is running. I was going to put the brakes on today, but I'm a pooped old codger and ready to rest for the rest of the day.
Woul;d you HUSH we are trying to diagnose an issue with a Scooby Doo ---

Biddy he probably needs some new struts and shocks --- and the little rubber bits that sit ON TOP of the struts ,......I did all that stuff a few years back --- made a WORLD of difference rides like a Cadillac now --- honestly way better than my 2015 Kia Soul --

I think you earned a rum or 12 Grant --- kick back and relax .....plan tomorrows ATTACK!
