to be fair---I am toying with the idea of putting epiphone pickups in the SG...............JUST KIDDING!

Well...the original Gibson Mini-Humbuckers were derived from an Epiphone design they acquired when they bought Epiphone. These are often referred to as "PAF" type mini-humbuckers (which are different from the current crop of minis and the minis in the Firebird).

Anyhoo, being that Gibson has put the PAF-type minis in SGs since, at least, the early '70s, it could be argued that Gibson, themselves, have put Epiphone (or, more correctly, Epiphone-derived) pickups in SGs!

Why Not????

I had three sets of Gibson's that were horrible in terms of noise and tone. I ended up with a great set of GFS PAF Clones, 7.93k bridge and 7.88k neck....

Listen to them in action here:

P.S. When I install these new Doug Aldricj Signature Pickups, these PAF clones will need a home.... :)

Good read eSGEe. But they left out any mention of the human riff, Keef Riffhard. Although primarily though of as a Tele guy, he's used Gibsons a lot, including SG's. The open G classic Brown Sugar for one was recorded on an SG. Cheers
