SG choice

IF you can --- play both first---- ultimately -- if you have a shop that carries BOTH that you can go and compare back to back---do it.

But but but ... that's not playing Russian roulette, that's playing with a system.

interesting figures. ;)

And as we have discussed the shipping from me to you---even on a SUPER deal --- queers the $ ---
WHy pay 150.00 freight for 150 guitar when you can buy a new one in your neighborhood for 395.00 ---or some such....

As my education on buying and selling guitars develops I'm seeing how cunning Australian distributors are.
Find the beat Aust deal then find the best online deal, add the costs involved in getting that bargain to Aust and it all goes to sh*t.

I'm sympathetic, Kevin.

It's quite like that down here, except that instead of less people, we have currency that ain't worth sh!t and scorching taxes. A US guitar costs here about 3x what it costs in the US.

When I told a friend from TFF what people charge for a R9 here, he almost had a heart attack.

Guitars (good ones at least) are a luxury here. I own ordinary guitars, like the Am Std stratocaster and the Gibson '61 reissue SG, guitars that cost around $1500 in the US, and these are considered VERY expensive here.

Hey, hey, hey, Sérgio! That '61 reissue is extraordinary! Ain't nothing ordinary about it at all!:dood:

They talk about a world economy but that's just BS thrown about by people who benefit from such talk.
We in Australia have a high NUMBER of dollars into our households but pay +++ to live each day.
Cost to buy a house in my town is between $600,000 and $1,500,000.
A US guitar costs us 1.34 times more on currency conversion before our importers gouge us for a bit extra.
Work it out yourself my GOOD (hard work grafting dealer against dealer) deal on an Epi G400 Pro (black) is Aust $473.10 = US $354.30.

Retail on a Faded Gibson SG Special here is around AUD $1700. You can get them for less, but that's your everyday price.
Agree with Kevin on housing prices too. Here in Perth, Western Australia, you can pick up bargains for around $350K, but they need a lot of work, and are in shitty areas that need to be bulldozed and started again.
Median house price is around $500-550K.
Perth also has some of the most expensive real estate in Australia, with an average price around Nedlands and Peppermint Grove of between $1.5 - 3 Million.
Dalkeith, our most expensive suburb, has a median price of $2,450,000!
Our median income, however, is only $72,800... How the hell are you supposed to survive here on that?
I have a mortgage, wife and 2 autistic kids. Even with an average income of around $75k, we're struggling to pay our bills, and have been in deep financial $h!t more times than I can count.
I've lived here in Perth for 28 years, and wages are definitely not keeping up with our cost of living.
I'm seriously tempted to sell the house and move overseas to Europe or the USA... I'd probably be better off financially...

Remember that would be a one way trip.
Because I sacrificed in my middle years I own a number of those big dollar houses and could take a lot of money to a place with cheaper living. After a couple of years of inflation (back home) I couldn't change my mind and return.
Adrian and I know a bloke in South Africa, great job, great life style, servants etc but if he came our way he'd starve.
