Selling the Vintage SG Will Give Me a Short Lived NGD...Anyone Need a CS Strat?

So, I have a deal in the works to sell the SG for $3000 plus a very nice Mint Fender Custom shop 1957 NOS Stratocaster. Value of the Strat is conservatively $3300 and it will most likely go right up for sale.

If this falls through I have a back up deal for $2500 and a beautiful Gibson CS 68' Les Paul Custom with a value around $3500. I would have a harder time parting with it because it's beautiful!

Here are the two guitars, one of which will soon be for sale unless the cash flow covers the bills I need to pay...

Which deal would you gents take? By the way that Les Paul weighs 10 lbs. 10 ozs!!!

Honestly, I’d take neither. If you’re in a fix for cash, trying to come up with other ways of augmentation would be better. In the Long run, the SG will retain more of it’s value. After the first of the year, I expect quite a bit of stuff Flooding the market due to having to pay the taxman after a very uncertain financial year due to Covid. Because the other guitars are not really “über” special, you may get left with a much emptier basket.

I'm sure you are right and I've been contemplating a loan from my Dad. He has a nice bank account built up and says he doesn't need any of it...

Sp8, U sure do have a way of coming across the Bo Derek's of Guitars.

Sorry to hear your monetary scenario is fighting ya.

I have had some beauties for sure! Some real high grade stuff has passed through my horrible playing. Hope I didn't scar any of too badly!

I know how excited you were to get it, and don't want to see you get burned. This year has been a big year in sales, but many expect 2021 to be the opposite, and down to 2008 financial crash prices. If that is the one guitar you can hold on to, it may be worth more in a few years.

I sure hope if it is meant to be for Chris to sell the SG that he gets his asking price. I was on Facebook SG group and another fella Nigel sold his 60's SG for $5500

I'll sell off everything before I take a loss on the SG. Vintage should hold value, but the buyers right now are a strange bunch. They seem to want new stuff and many are still
into boutique guitars. I've always found those hard to move if you need cash in a hurry.

Sell the house and the cars. Live in a tent on the beach.
Keep the guitars.

Keep Lp man :)

Getting rid of anything gear related for necessity is rough but having to make a Sophie's Choice is brutal. Im truly sorry dude and i hope that stuff works out and you manage to keep them both
