I think the title is a farse and fabricated to represent something that is far off base.

Extreme metal guitar skills are no different than any other desired skill. They are also competitive with anyone who "dares", be it male or female. There is no "mating success" because the years of that market have long since expired.

The "linking" and "intentions" stated are along the lines of the classic straw man.

No. I just think they are fabricating an overall perspective and viewpoint for us using man's common competitive urges then putting sex into it saying these guitarists would rather be at a sausage fest than have a woman.

I just read into these things when they try to lord over us to forge out our thinking and perspectives.

Guess it's just my opinion on the matter. :)

Not me man. Guitar may have helped me get the girl.... seriously, it was the "ice breaker." And while I enjoy guitar.... my woman wins every time.

Yea ...the point is that guitars got women back in the day. The article has to reverse it around to essentially say these men are not interested in women. Propaganda and mind bending.

Lol I can safely say, guitar has NEVER gotten me any action. Whether it was playing southern rock in a redneck bar with drunk middle aged women hanging around in my younger years, playing metal in a club with nu metal chicks hanging out or even just cranking up an amp in my own bedroom towards my wife: Nadda. Nothing. Not a single time regardless of genre lol

So, I read the whole article.

It's kind of an interesting study. I can't say I agree or disagree. Honestly, I don't really care! I'm not a fan of extreme metal, anyway.

I think it's important, however, not to overreact to this study. The author of the study even made the point that this was an exploratory study requiring more research before any conclusions can be drawn. The author of the study even details some of the limitations of the study.

But, even if the results of the study are generally correct, the nature of such psychological studies is that they are limited to trends within groups; they never purport to be indisputable fact for every individual. The observations may not apply to every person.
 
You're someone who's thinking though. The whole idea, especially according to the title, is for people to capture otherwise. You got to, and deciphered the disclaimer whereas most will not. The title is definitive and is what the author wants people to read and know in summary. Titles like that are meant to mold minds.

It says Metal guitarists like to compete in a sausage fest while having no interest in women. "Intersexual" suggests homosexuality as well.
