My thoughts on DSL's are as follows, they just came out with the DSL40CR, so that move alone tanked the value of the older DSL40C.
New design amps with supposedly better sound. I wouldn't pay anymore than $250 - 300 for a DSL40C regardless of what speaker was in it.
The Valvestates are another story. Hated by some, loved by others. However value is probably pretty close to the DSL.

No reason to be sorry at all...its an imported amp and value is very subjective. I sold my 2005 Schecter C1 Hellraiser for $200 so I am not unaccustomed to losing money on these deals...

My local Guitar Sinner offered me $350.00 as they sell them for around $500.00 with a stock speaker...

I love BOTH 
But -- honestly --- (OH I HATE TO SAY THIS ) ROBERT IS RIGHT-- (there will be NO living with him now)
o.k. mine are NOT megawatts -- but -- last weekend I did a back to back-- comparo (I was deciding WHAT to keep and what to lose--the ORange didnt win
) -- anywhoo
in a back to back DOOM ROOM shootout (FOR 80's METAL TONE ONLY) the VS 20 KILLS the DSL15-- kills it MURDERS it jumps up and down stomps on it kicks it in the balls and farts on its Mother----
BUT -- for EVERY other possible genre -- the DSL comes back and rips the HEAD off the VS and poops down its neck....after eating burritos and maddog 20/20
so there ya go-- and honest all be it demented review
