Roland MicroCube hiss

I am not technically proficient so this may be a silly question, but I have a MicroCube and last night it seemed to develop a very audible hiss every time a note or chord was fading out.
I tried different settings and turned off all the effects to see if any of that was the problem, but the hiss continued.
The batteries are relatively new, so I don't know that that is a problem.
Have any of you with a MicroCube experienced this and do you have any solutions?
Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions

I wish I could help, all I can tell you is that the things aren't repairable, unless you're really lucky.

I think it has a built in noise gate that's fairly subtle. Mine's not with me at the moment so I can't tell if it's adjustable.

Just read this

Ok, Neutrik makes some great stuff, that isn't likely the problem. Here's the thing with those cube amps:
They have a built in compressor that cannot be turned off. Once you plug in a cord, it activates the circuitry, and what you're hearing is the noise from the cable. You can use a shielded guitar cable to minimize this, but I would think that the Neutrik connectors would be used on a shielded cable.
You can adjust it down with the treble knob, but that's about it on the cubes... It is mostly noticeable when you practice, but is less noticeable at a gig. The 40XL has the least amount of hiss.

Thanks guys. I have been reading up on the Roland Cubes and it seems they develop this problem as time goes on. :(
Luckily it's not something I can't live with, I only use it up in the spare bedroom for practice anyway.
Thanks for your replies.

TMK @Hackmaster was not the Original Owner....... so at least

and on it marches.....................
I traded a cheap Fender parlor guitar for it.
Those little amps rip!
If another was offered to me as trade bait, I'd be all over it.
Best part was you could stuff a few batteries in it and take it anywhere.

Thats why i like my VoX Rhythem 5, Nux and Blackstar, battery powered amps, you can just take them anywhere.
