Rob's Brand New Used 2016 Gibson Les Paul 50's Tribute Project:

Robert you do have a very great guitar and think improving it is a splendid idea. You have the talent to change the wiring to any thing you want. It is a Gibson so the pots and basics are there.
Modern vs Vintage is just moving the cap to different legs of the volume and tone pots. With the vintage you guitar will be brighter. The tone will be before the volume. Modern the volume is before the tone. Easy to change and of course it is reversible.
Those pre made harnesses are not reversible. Plus you are dropping some bucks on it and that is not responsible. Look at a couple diagrams and see how easy it is. Put your money to locking tuners. Good luck and great playing my friend.

Good points here, Kevin. I bought a 50's style harness from Tone Man for my SG quite a while back, but since the double neck was such an odd-duck, I built that harness myself from scratch

My 2016 Gibson Les Paul 50's Tribute came with a locking tuner I've never seen before

Thankfully, the music store included the original Gibson Green Keys. I just haven't got around to putting them on.

No plans to alter the wiring on this Les Paul or remove the Gibson PCB. I'm just going to shield it...

Tone is great and the guitar looks a little better after ditching the cream trim.

You are not alone. I have to change strings often. My Strat has everything known to the white man to keep it in tune. The strings wrap was what kicked it out of tune with the tremolo. I beat it like a rental truck. With the locking tuners it comes right back. On the les Paul's my bends and the multi directional string lay out. Mostly the D and G go out of tune. The locking tuners hold it together.
I did not want to mess too much with my Gibsons but one day some idiot will have them and will beat some one to death with one or maybe both! I paid the most they will ever be worth so I should have my fun. I know it's not murder most faul but it's still fun.

That is bad ass brother

Kevin, could you use these tuners??? I am going to take them off and put the Green keys on soon.....

You need green keys I can send you out a couple sets now or down the road. I have many kinds of tuners and nuts. I have knobs and pickups! You need it I'll put it in the mail. Some of the pickups I forgot how I got them. I have been swapping out pickups and other stuff for years. Let me know before you buy something.

I really wouldn't mind having (18) Green keys to replace the kind of ivory colored ones on my double neck....

Hi! I might have that many! I will be at work until tomorrow late after noon. I don't know about the match from three different guitars. I will photograph them and if you want them I will send them out. Ok !?

Thanks, Doc....there is no rush, as this is just cosmetic. Let's just stick to the genuine Gibby's and I will start collecting enough to make a full set of 18.

Do you happen to have need of a Strat H-H pickguard????
