RIP to My Hero, Mo Gaba


On Mo's Big Mo show, he told the orioles former manager Buck Showalter that this was one of his favorite memories of his life.
Buck had called in to wish Mo well, and to also tell him that during his time as Manager, meeting Mo was one of his fondest memories from his time in Baltimore too.
 
At a mere 27-28 years old, Trey Manicini is also one of the most humble and kind hearted human beings we could ever meet. During the All Star break one year, where many players return home to their families, Trey stayed here in Baltimore to spend time with Mo and to play video games and to bless him so much.

Yup, As myself and countless other Mo fans will say, " in his short 14 years, he had a positivity, a muturity, a penchant to make others feel special" Amidst his treatments and fight to live life to the fullest, Mo was like the master seed, the tap root, the fully blossoming Tree that bore sweet fruit as not just any child would normally be, but a superior, supernatural, explosion of Amazingness. The joy in his laugh and the sweet kindness of Mo toward others, has to be what I will remember him most for.

Not knowing me from Adam, but willing to add me on his Facebook page, we began to text sometime back around May. On our initial chat, I naturally wanted to tell him how proud I was of him and how impressed I was with his skills, his polished and natural ability on radio, and for all the goodness he gave to others. THE little Rascal, tells me " Stop, you are making me blush"

Then as we talked further, I eventually told him my dad was basically elderly and in a wheelchair. I also said, I was needing to make my way to make progress on my building of his handicapped ramp. Mo, then texts me to say, " Tell your dad hi from Mo, and to wish him well."

I mean WHAT TEENAGER does that?


Oh and y'all tell me, HOW can a BLIND boy play video games and actually beat the levels?
Somehow Mo did it. That was OUR MO hehe

Here is a little saga of one of the biggest forces of how Mo gained exposure. Despite not being the first folks Mo called on the radio, Scott Garceau and Jeremy Conn likely held the bulk of his time and bond. SO here is Jeremy Conn

That is quite a story about an exceptional human being.

Just watching those videos, and reading about Mo has enriched my life further. Something about this story is hitting me where it hurts.

I've been on this Earth 57 years, and haven't made half the impact Mo did, and I have been blessed with good vision, good health etc...

Makes one want to make better use of their time and what they can give others.

Steve, you could not have said it better! I feel exactly the same way! Thanks, Chili for your post and many thanks to Mo for your excellent life! Because of you the world is a better place!
 
Steve and fretless, you guys sure get what anyone in our whole town, and others he touched throughout America and even abroad have learned. Thanks for viewing and meeting Big Mo.

Jeremy Conn who brought us so many stories and the years we had with Mo, said this in one place in his interview.

" Maybe Mo could be so positive, because having lost his sight before 1 year old, he essentially never saw and could not see the negative of the world. "

Just think, if all we got to know was kindness and love and a benevolent spirit, we all could possess the qualities needed to be as big a blessing to the whole world as Mo was in his world.


PS. As I was fine tuning my sentence about MO losing his sight, a light bulb went on. The cancer took his eyes before he was 1. I wonder if as a baby he actually got to see his mom before she found his cancer. Did he actually have memores of what his dear loving mom looked like for the rest of his life? Man, what a thought.
