RIP Marvin Lee Aday “Meatloaf”

When I was younger and frequented the bar scene, Every pub visit you could count on hearing Meatloaf on the jukebox. The amount of times Paradise by the Dashboard Light played at local bars probably rivaled Freebird.

Meat, thanks for the memories of drunken singalongs.
RIP.

I absolutely loved Meat Loaf, so this sucks to hear.

Bat Out of Hell is one of the Best Selling Albums of All Time for a good reason, as it was truly "Rock N Roll Shakespeare" as worded by the man himself and the late great Jim Steinman. Still listen to it this day!

And I enjoyed a lot of his acting roles such as Eddie in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Travis Redfish in Roadie, Red in Black Dog and Robert Paulson in Fight Club. But i absolutely loved him as The Lizard in The 51st State ( aka Formula 51, one of my all time favorite films).

RIP, Meat!

RIP Mr. Aday.
Love that Bat out of Hell record.
Yep, many drunken sing a longs here as well.

What a singer and and passionate / emotive stage performer.

Coming out of the Tropicana theatre in Atlantic City in 2015 (I think) after seeing the Paul Rodgers Band, we saw posters that Meat was playing there soon. Wanted to get tickets but I failed to act.

The first thing my wife said to me this morning was " we should have gotten those tickets".
I agreed.

From Wiki:
As the recording of Free-For-All commenced, rhythm guitarist and lead vocalist Derek St. Holmes left the band, citing growing personal and creative conflicts with Nugent. Two solid years of living together on the road had taken its toll on the relationship.[7] Additionally, St. Holmes was unhappy with Tom Werman's production, saying that the producer was watering down the band's sound.[7]

A full year before Bat Out of Hell brought him international success, vocalist Meat Loaf was brought in by producer Werman to sing on the album. Meat Loaf was paid the sum of $1,000 for his contributions to the album, which included crafting his vocal arrangements and two days of recording sessions.[8] He says that after he agreed to do the album he was sent a lyric sheet containing just the words with no arrangements. Having no idea what the songs were going to sound like, he nonetheless created the vocal arrangements for the songs that he recorded and performed.[8]

St. Holmes also sang lead vocal on several of the album's songs, including the single "Dog Eat Dog". He officially returned to the group after Free For All's release, and performed on the subsequent tour. Band management asked him to return at the request of Epic Records.[7]

I had that same chance in Atlantic City to see him back in 2006 or 2007. Same boat as you, didn’t pull the trigger for the tickets.
