Brian John Duffy, better known as Jet Black the drummer of the Stranglers passed away this morning at 84. One of bands to come out of the first wave of British punk bands, they were slightly older and more accomplished musicians, which put off many of the the "punks" of the day. They especially didn't like his beard and Dave Greenfield's (RIP 2020) moustache. I thought they were one of the best bands to come out of England at the time. Clever, funny, good songs, and and just damn good fun. Probably considered Grandpa Punk by now, but the songs still hold up. So much better than the Pistols and most of the others.
