Very sad, she was a talented lady with a unique voice. Ironically, that signature voice was not really natural but the result of singing 'wrong' or rather distorted and not letting it clean up again. Still, that's what made her famous and there's no denying she was good at it.
Whilst I don't believe it became a great hit, she did a cover of Making Love Out Of Nothing (originally by Air Supply). The best version I've ever heard, and leagues better than the original in my opinion.
