Wow, this is sudden.

Very sad news.

Saw them a bunch of times in the 70's and 80's. R.I.P Dusty.

Man...dammit all to hell....this really sucks. That effectively ends ZZ Top as well, like Neil Peart's passing ended Rush. I hate to hear this, cause Dusty was insanely cool and wrote and sung some of their best songs.

Yeah it is. When you’re 30, 72 is ancient. When one realizes thats me is six years, it gets your attention.

Saw them twice a few years back, locally in a pretty small venue.

Some tidbits I just gathered from an L.A. Times article:
Born Joseph Michael Hill on May 19, 1949

According to a statement released by the band, Hill died in his sleep in his Houston home.

Hill began having health problems in 2014, when he fell inside ZZ Top’s tour bus, injuring his hip badly enough to warrant subsequent hip replacement surgery. In 2021, another hip injury forced him to bow out of the group’s 50th anniversary tour. After canceling a July 21 show in Evansville, Ind., the group played a gig two nights later with their longtime guitar tech Elwood Francis replacing Hill on bass.

Hill is survived by his wife Charleen “Chuck” McCrory and his daughter Charity from a previous marriage.
