Yeah @SG John nailed it. The only glaring differences is the binding is gone throughout the entire guitar. They both have a capped maple top on a mahogany body, set neck, rosewood fretboard, pearl trapezoid inlay, 498T and 490R humbuckers for the most part (standards initially had PAFs, then the 498/490s when the studio debuted, while most standards today have some variation of the Burstbucker pickups now), both used to have Kluson tuners but a lot of standards now have Grovers

Thanks @SG John so for just binding i have to pay extra £900? That is F’ed up....

but i cant lie i really like black beauty LP.

@Mitch Pearrow SJMP i was going to buy studio version but i though it was less good than the standard because so much price gap.... that tells you i know nothing...
A studio is a fine straight up arch top Les Paul, if you ever are in the market for an LP and dont wanna break the bank, you cant beat 'em. My dad has a 95 Wine Red that sounds amazing

ill get anaconda burst some point once im done with metal guitar and amps:)
Though its looks are traditional and classic, never let a Les Paul fool ya: they can get down right dirty and metal up quite nice with the right conditions! But hell you know that being a Metallica fan lol ;)

Id love to own a good LP myself. Never had one or a Strat for that matter. Also, never owned a tremolo guitar oddly enough! Dunno why lol

Basically as mentioned the pickups in the Studio are the 498T and 490R humbuckers, while the Standard has burstbuckers. There is a substantial weight difference as well.....

Mine is a 95 Wine Red as well. I saved to buy a LP custom back in 1995. After I played the Studio I fell in love with it. So instead of the custom, for the same money I walked out of the shop with my Studio and a Telecaster.

Two for one! Cant beat that! The Studio was the first Les Paul i ever got to play when my dad got his back in 95. I absolutely loved that guitar and he still has it sitting quietly in his cabinet lol i had an uncle who bought a 96 Standard regular Burst a year later, as well as a 96 SG Standard and a 1992 LP Custom black beauty.

The custom he bought i sincerely believe had the pickups swapped ( checked the backs of them with him one day and they didnt show up like any Gibson pickup i could find) and it never sounded good honestly. The LP Standard was nice but in those days, they had the same 498/490 pickups so there wasnt a massive sound difference than dad's Studio. He ended up selling me the SG for $100 less than he paid, like 2 months later and it was brand new. I still got that one actually

Glad to hear your Dad held on to that Studio. The rosewood boards on those guitars are outstanding.
I have a few guitars, the Studio is the one I would never part with. Played so many gigs and recorded with that axe for many years.
