Recording a bass line without a bass?

Have some tracks that need bass added to them, the problem is I don't have a bass.

What I do have is Reaper with assorted vst, plugins etc..., also have a Boss Guitar to bass Emulator, not so good so far?

Is my best bet, next to the purchase of a bass guitar, is to track my six string and use an octave down program, e.q., compression etc..

I do plan on getting a bass guitar, just not this week?

Some sort of synthesizer? midi triggered?, any one with knowledge on the Boss pedal- patch? Render the tracks and email to one of you guys to add bass?

Looking for opinions, experiences any help please.

Had no idea so reasonable.

Nothing against Squire at all. Have been loving my MIJ Squire Strat since I bought it new early 80"s

Guess I'll get a new computer monitor next week.....

You could use the right octave pedal. I'd be easier to buy a bass.

I've used guitar to record the bass lines and then use a pitch plugin to lower it an octave - to be honest, if I didn't tell someone they didn't know/notice...

That was going to be my next move
I'm trying to get through all the different methods before outlaying any bass money.

I think I know where this is headed...

I have a Glarry J bass....it’s OK...was $73 shipped.

then I put flats, and a tortoise guard on it...


It’s not the greatest, but after a setup...it’s perfectly functional.

Plays just fine, in fact plays and intonates great.

New strings are perfectly useable.

It's VERY light, I mean less than my Stratocaster?

Doesn't sound bad after a bass amp- cab plugin and e.q. Definitely works for my needs
