I have a very, very old SM-57. It was out on loan several years and came back looking like death warmed over. I mean,, It works, but I was thinking it should be refurbished.

Anybody know of a re rebuilder???

You can order the cartridge for about $60, after that it's 2 wires to solder the cartridge unscrews...
Other than that most repair shops are charging $100 an hour so it's not worth fixing unless you know a shure dealer who will sell the part for cost.

I'm going to have to charge $100 an hour too, because repairs don't make any money.
My friend at Grand Central music is making far more money from lessons. Repairs are not worth the space in the store anymore....
anyway the repairs I have enjoyed doing for sooooo many years are being priced out of existence.
I do a really clean job, just like the factory, the amps work like new. But nobody gives a poop anymore.
You can thank manufacturers in China and their $29 microphones for that.

Rarely anybody recognizes the difference, between a $29 POS mic and a real Shure microphone.

Honestly, SM-57s are so inexpensive ($99.00 at Sweetwater) that it probably is less expensive to just buy a new mic than to pay someone to refurbish.

If, as you point out, the mic does work, you’d probably be better off just getting whatever replacement parts you can find and fixing it yourself.
