Reaper or Audacity?

I have Reaper because it was recommended by a bunch of members here. I toyed with it and it seems straightforward enough. I really haven’t delved into it much though.
I did download Audacity but haven’t played with that at all.

Audacity isnt that hard to understand, its rudimentary as hell but thats not a bad thing. Reaper is more complicated but better to use probably, but isnt free. Ive used both, hate both lol still use Reaper but something easier would be nicer

If you used pro tools first you would give up on recording:)
Whats so complicated about just hitting record? These damn things require a ton of setup before you do anything and by the time your done, you just wanna take an aspirin and go to bed. There's a million dollar idea: someone set up a DAW thats simply record and go: ready and setup the second you turn it on

If you dig in a little bit, you can set up and save/recall track and/or project templates. I used to have a project template for rehearsal recording….it was an easy “load and go” scenario.

Yeah i guess im too damn impatient and technologically stupid to ever really get this thing lol i see teenage kids using it with ease and im caveman beating my laptop and just ditching it after 10mins lol. Maybe it aint the DAW rather the user

I don’t know what you do but with me I do exactly what you said.

I get my guitar turn on my pedalboard plug it in to interface and open reaper few clicks to set up the track ( you can pre save track settings if you are lazy and load them at your command) and off I go.

Where pro tools was major pain in the ass… I can’t be bothered writing all the details why… :)

well Ill stoke one up for Audacity -- I use it -- because -- its stupid simple ---Im stupid and I can SIMPLY record and save a tone
like this :
which took all of 5 minutes to dial in the MEsa Model on AMpero -- open Audacity -- hit record -- export-- upload and whamo ----

yes -- its crap-- but hey IT TOOK 5 min.... TOTAL ........ Imagine what someone with talent and an hour or two could accomplish...

and its FREE -- both Audacity and soundcloud ..... and both have more features and functions than I WILL EVER TAKE THE TIME TO LEARN TO USE! ....so why spend $$$

That aint crap pal lol actually pretty damned good

I'm just looking for something I can use to post up some sound clips of the new Schenker pickups in the V and Explorer. Bad playing or not.
If you want completely simple? Try audacity. Its not bad and easy to get started. It becomes basic when you start getting fancy and wanting to do much more with it. Reaper is fine but it takes more to understand it, i felt.

I was able to record on audacity in about 10 mins. Reaper took me a good hour or more to make a basic recording. Now once you understand it, its not bad
