Ok… Ive recorded whole song and I cant load it up anymore…. Every time I try I get this message. It really makes my gears grind as I have spent lot of time working on this song. If I lose all files Im giving up on this song as I cant be arsed to re record.

That the message Im getting.

I can load other projects no problem. Its just this one I have problem with. Ive tried previous versions but it loads up and all files are offline. I have not deleted anything…

Its so annoying…:

If anyone knows how to fix issue please let me know.

Thank you

By any chance, do you have the back up file to that project ?

I have a quite a few songs on my other computer, i can not get loaded. My backup seem to. Learned a big lesson there !

Also, look at how the project is exporting. It needs to be sent a save files for project

try this from the Reapertips

Does Reaper let you load in elements of other project files? If so, create a new file, and load in everything from the bad file. This worked for me the one time I had a file lock up, but I was running Digital Performer in those days, which does have this “Load” function.

@Headache has a great answer…The rpp.bak file is usually a pretty viable saving grace. It may not have “everything”, but it may not be missing much. Sometimes it creates a bak file when a track, or effect, is added to the project.
Also, check under the file menu(iirc) for recent projects…usually there’s an open recent projects menu….you may find a viable instance of that project in the drop down menu there.(for example…your “fade to black” project may be listed multiple times on that list, and one may be corrupted while another may not be)

Late to the party here. Was gone all day and just got home. And maybe it’s already been said and I am just too pooped to read thru everything. But I was under the assumption Reaper does an automatic backup on files. Seems somewhere in my tired grey matter when looking thru folders I’ve seen .bak files.

My comment to Ramo’s about him not backing things up.

@DBi5 tried to teach me how to use reaper years ago, but I just couldn't wrap my head around it. I still feel bad about that.

A lot of times I will get errors if a file that "belongs" to the whole song gets moved to a different place on your computer, that's generally where the " file not found' issue happens.
yes ! I have had to to go back and get all the waves located to the song & then export them grouped properly them properly.

Yes, it makes an rpp file in whatever folder the file was sitting in as soon as you added it to Reaper.

I always have to download drums, and I have to remember to create a new song folder and get that drum track moved from my download file and into the new song folder BEFORE I add it into my reaper project....

im gonna give it a try and Ill report back how it goes.

It might be my dinosaur pc issue, I have to buy new one.

Waiting to sell my other car as I dont need it anymore and with that money Ill buy new pc.
