Reaper. Do you use it?

I've scoured all the the threads here in the Home Recording forum section for quite some time. Aside from the occasional mention of Reaper, it's rarely mentioned.

Ramo is having problems with REAPER.

If you have REAPER experience to share...do it now!

Like Dave. I have it. I’ve done some really simple things with it like drag and drop in a backing track with instruments I can’t play. Then add my own bass and guitar into tracks. And that about it. Haven’t figured out how to “fix” a screw up, so I have to go back to the beginning and delete and record again. I’ll get there. Just takes time and practice.

I know Ramo is having some issues, just don’t know his exact issue. Just in general.

So kids…. We have a thread here. Let’s run with it.

I record 9 tracks every Wednesday during band practice. I have a template file and just copy that each week and start over. I record everything in one large set of files (one for each track). They are over 1GB each. Occasionally I’ll go back and trim a good song out of the file. But, alas, I’m just a novice. The hardest thing was getting my 12 Channel RME Fireface UFX+ usb interface connected to Reaper through the audio drivers. Took a while to get that figured out. I have done zero mastering or post track recording processing.

If you do a word search using Reaper for the input. There’s actually several mentions. Just not all in the “Home Recoding” room. From what I’ve read of them… they are usually some one having a specific problem.

Which kinda brings me full circle back to @Ramo letting us know what his specific issue is so the folk here that are more familiar with the product can offer the help he’s looking for.

My apologies for not being thorough.
No apologies needed ! My scramble brain is lucky to explain anything correctly these days ! Did take a journey through Abby Road, the production process and the engineering. Then a few other old school studios, it was well worth the few months of trying to learn. Each new song release, seems to clean up & learn the process better. Still a major work in progress. Reaper for a non computer guy has been a huge blessing in life !

Also, can't stress it enough, treated my room fairly decent with just decorating. used sound meter to check all areas, then started hanging things here and there & moving plants around. Has become so enjoyable , even listening to the TV or jamming on 70's Hi fi gear in the room.

Next best thing i learned. Trust my gear & ears. Learned the gear i have & listened to all kinds of music on it. Now i have a good handle on comparing & getting it in the zone it needs to be. It didn't have to be all high end & the room didn't need to be a bomb proof shelter to start getting good results !

Which in turn, led me to the most important part ! Making & listening to music again. Not to impress but to simply enjoy !!

How do you like Mixcraft? What do you like about it better than Reaper, if anything?
I don’t think it’s all together better but it is good. It automatically detected my keyboard and the menu allows what ever you want to use the keyboard function to do. I like it but I do think Reaper might be better overall , at least in that I am so used to the recording functions now.
