Lou Ottens, inventor of the cassette tape passed away today. RIP

Wow. I never knew Lou, but he enriched my life greatly.

Yeah, his invention probably did more for the music industry than most rockstars. He also worked on the CD before retiring.

In a fairly recent interview, when told that young artists started releasing their new records on cassette, he said something along the lines of: What on earth for? CD is much better.

The cassette recorder will mean the death of the record industry...

Hmmmmm.....I never knew who invented the cassette. To be honest, I never even thought about it, it was just one of those things that was there.

R.I.P. ........ and thank you Lou ....... the "Empty" cassette case (with printed cover jacket) was a GOD SEND in high school -- you could hide weed.....smokes...ludes....razor blades....ALL SORTS of useful things to survive the blackboard jungle in a cassette case in your pocket ........and the teacher says "whats that!?!?" --- Oh the new DEF LEPPARD cassette.... -- "Well put it away no cassette players here" ........ BUWAHAHAHAHAHAHA rubes! ......er.....
