R.I.P. Ed King

Sad indeed. But they got it wrong - Ed originally joined the band as the Bass player when Leon Wilkeson quit, and he played bass on the first album (except 2 tracks I think, which the producer played it on). Leon came back just before Pronounced was released, so his picture is on the cover but he doesn't play on the album. Ed then switched to guitar for Second Helping. Rolling Stone should know better.

RIP Mr. King.
Another King gone; one we dont associate with Albert, BB, or Freddie.
Not a front man like those, but what a talent.

If he didnt quit, well Steve Gaines, his replacement, perished in the plane crash, soooo theres that.

R.I.P. Ed King

Didn't realize a thread on Mr King's passing was started at The Closet. I just started one at The News Stand.

news stand sounds proper.
I always click new posts unless I'm looking for something in particular.

Here he is with Strawberry Alarm Clock (which incidentally might be the stupidest band name ever), by the way. To the left in the golden suit. I honestly think Lynyrd Skynyrd was a rather huge step up...

I guess we need something to counter that.

He was my favorite LS guitar player and they all play excellent. Bums me out it has been that kind of year. I never saw him live but I saw LS before the plane crash. I think there are only two guys left from the band. RIP Ed King

I think just Gary Rossington, or he is the only original still with the band anyways.
Never saw them, was going to but, I couldn't go to the farewell tour show here near me recently; bummed is right.

I believe the tall drummer is still alive. The original drummer passed away a few years back.
