I usually buy a print stencil from Zombiepumpkins but recently began using Stoneykins because they are more detailed. I take Saral White Transfer paper, stick it to the pumpkin and then place the stencil over top, then tracing the entire picture onto it. This is its negative image.

You carve the blacked out pieces, using small saws first. Then the grey pieces i use a V-notched wood carving tool to scrape down about 1/4 of the way deep along the edges, a U-shaped gouge to remove around it, then a clay molding tool to scrape it away and thin it evenly. Trim it all up inside with an X-acto blade, followed up with bathing the pumpkin in bleach water to kill bacteria and harden the final pattern.

And thats it lol

Meg roasts the seeds with different seasonings in batches but thats about it on what we use. Admittedly a wasteful way for a pumpkin to end lol
