Pulled Trigger on Fender 68 Custom DR

Okay folks, I'm busy as all get go right now but...........................here is a few shots. I tried it out slightly with my American Special Strat and my SG both. In the future I'll try to get some sound or video of it but for right now, here are a couple of shots.

This one sounds just as bitchen as the other ones I have tried out or heard so far guys. I wonder what the bias for these are? In the future I like to put all TAD glass in it perhaps.

!!! Great Googly Moogly - nice amp, man !!!

Wow, awesom1
HOpe it is everything you hoped for.

See, I cant have a serious amp like that; I think it would imply I can actually play.

You probably already know this, but... give the new amp plenty of time to break in before considering any changes.

All three have vibro. Only the SR and DR have reverb. I can always use the Hall of Fame on the VC.

Tell me about them all. I want a new tube amp and a Fender amp has always been on my list. Sweetwater has 48 month 0% interest right now.

I have owned a few Paul Rivera modded Deluxe Fenders nothing to write home about. And his Fender era amps sloppy lead dress.

The Leo Fender designed amps are the ones to own. Pre Bob Risson designed black face. 1961-1968 so any Fender up to late 1961 with the Triad transformers and Astron signal capacitors.

Fat mid-range volume past 5 a Marshall from Hell.

I played an tweed Band Master with a late 50s Strat before. You will never need a pedal with that set up except wah or modulation effects. Loud as hell it could also get.

I'm real busy right now so I have not been able to put the DR through all the paces yet. The 78 VC I got back around 1995 for about $160 at Guitar Center in Fountain Valley California. I cleaned it up and put a Jensen P8R ALNICO magnet speaker in it. I also put all JJs in it. I have all the original RCAs it came with minus the 6V6. It came with some Russian Sovtek 6V6. I got the SR from a buddy of mine who had brought it back to life by adding some speakers to it. Got it in 2013 and had to leave it at a girl friend's house for a few months before I got it back to my house. One speaker was dead and another was torn up. I don't remember what happened with the other speaker but it is gone also. It now has one speaker my friend put in it, another Speaker from Fender and two Jensen MOD speakers I put in it. I need to get two more of the MOD speakers. I'm not about to drop a fortune on ALNICO magnet speakers for this although it would sound very "chimey" if I did. I also put I've ran JJs for the power tubes in the SR before but, right now I'm using TAD, which is probably my favorite brand around now. The rest of the glass is all OEM and still working. Build wise and sound wise the new 68 Custom DR is just like the ones from that era for the most part. It has the silver trim deal around the grill cloth like they had in 68 or 69. I thought it was 69 when they had the silver trim deal around the cloth. Forgot to tell you, The SR came with two different brand power tubes. They were even different sizes and looked different. They were however 6L6 at least. I feel I have truly rescued and made the SR come back to life. It has a MV which pulls out for distortion. It is pretty beat up but still alive and well.
