But there's good people over there as there is over here too and i was lucky enough to meet a lot of them. Very peaceful for the most part and just working class joes.

The one advantage i always gave those countries over ours is history: ours isnt really that old (245 years) but there's in millennia. Lots of events happened there that we can't comprehend over here.

Exactly. Which is why I find that when someone feels apprehensive about visiting us, I get frustrated.....it's because somebody wants them to be afraid.

Now, why would someone want to do that?

What's the purpose of trying to instill fear into people?

Admittedly the first time i went to London, i had booked it about 2 months before the July 7th 2005 terror attacks and arrived 2 months after them. It was a weird time because i had never really been on a plane, let alone into another country and when i landed, there was British military with full gear and dogs patrolling the airports and underground stations. One of the stations next door to my hotel was actually one of the four bombsites and was in ruins ( Queensway). People told me i was crazy for going over there cause it was dangerous and full of terrorist, but i guess they forgot what we lived thru just 4 years earlier.

Like you said, everyone was trying to instill fear and make it out like it was this violent, hellhole and i was surely going to get killed being an American over there. They were all wrong and the people were amazing and welcoming, despite just suffering a massive attack. Had i listened to the dumbasses over here, i would have missed out on a lot of things over there

I seriously get pissed when a guy like yourself expresses trepidation about visiting us. Because you have largely been fed a pack of lies full of anti-american sentiment....it's not your fault, but believe us when we tell you that you have nothing to fear and every one of us here would welcome you with open arms.

We are the actual real people of the states and we'll tell you like it is, not what some foreign-owned media company wants you to believe about us.

in all seriousness, like you guys said before TV and media give a bad impression of many things not just there. Here too is doggy places and every country has that. Its same thing with Russia, many think Russia is bad but its just like any other country you have good and bad. all the leaders are bad no matter the country some hide it better than others.

I got pulled over for speeding about a mile from Kelly's house. I was carrying a concealed firearm, so I gave the cop my Alabama carry permit along with my Alabama drivers license. He went back to his car for a few minutes, then came back and handed me my drivers license and carry permit back.

I asked him "are you OK with my carry permit?"

He said "Pfft, this is Texas, everyone carries a gun. I'll make you a deal: don't pull yours out, and I won't pull mine out."

He let me go with a warning.
