Once I got it thru my thick skull the concept of Barre chords and frankly how that made playing easier. I got okay at it everywhere but the first fret. Like you. No finger strength in that first finger. So for a long time I just wouldn’t even try. And yes. Also for a long time my only guitar was an Ovation acoustic. Once I got an electric. Doing the F became easier…. And now I can even do it on the acoustic.

I learned on electric. Made life way easier. Once hands got stronger I got an acoustic.
