Possible NGD. Wish me luck!

Really??? Pretty strict regulations? ??

I learned the art from my great grandfather in Kentucky in the summer of 1980. After I retired in 2011, I made a few batches....about 15 gallons total yield at around 170-180 proof. Sold the whole lot at $25.00/quart... :)

The Norwegian alcohol legislation is probably the strictest in the world, except from Muslim countries where alcohol is prohibited.

You can produce as much beer or wine as you like at home without a license, but you cannot sell it. Home destination is forbidden. Anyone producing alcohol commercially needs a license to produce it and a license to sell it, and a different license in order to sell it to anyone outside your home county. Anyone buying alcohol stronger than 4.7 % abv directly from a producer needs a special license, hence supermarkets are not allowed to sell anything stronger than 4.7 to their customers. Bars can do it, but only for consumption on the premises (no takeaway!).

Since 1973 we are not allowed to advertise any alcoholic beverages. You do not need a license to sell anything below 2.5 % abv, but we still can't advertise beer at 2.5 %. In fact, we are not even allowed to advertise alcohol free beer if there is any logo or mark on the beverage containers that can remind the public of any alcoholic products. We are allowed to give neutral product info on our brewery web pages, but we can't show pictures that "may encourace" the consumption of alcohol. And breweries are not allowed to promote through social media either. We may be given special permission to advertise abroad, provided we have a substantial enough export to the particular country.

The reason for the strict laws is simple; to prevent consumption and the damages thereof. And there is no question that the laws actually work. Norway has fewer problems with alcohol related diseases and accidents than most comparable Western countries. The strict laws are a pain in the ass, though... But the ban on advertising works to the advantage of small breweries like ours in particular, and domestic breweries in general; Due to the restrictions, large international brewing companies like for instance SAB Miller, Anheuser Busch, Heineken and Carlsberg (who happens to own Ringnes, Norway's largest brewery, can't run ads to steal significant market shares from Norwegian breweries. Big brands like Bud are present here, but don't sell much.

Happy Incoming New Guitar Day!!
Good for you on the wife support.
Mine is not happy about my Jackson purchase this past Friday.
I had already made up my mind to sell the Squier Jaguar, but she is not convinced at this juncture.

Wow!!!

That is strict, but sensible...I would be in trouble!!!!

My favorite beer is Negra Modelo...Smooth to the finish. I can't do IPA's. It tastes like biting into a green stick...

Booze by mail? The old lady just gave me a thumbs up! A reset neck or a fixed neck brings the price way down. Let me know how much hoch you need to move?

The guitar arrived today. I’m seriously stoked. I need to adjust the truss rod a tiny bit, go over the intonation, apply some wax to the back of the neck and maybe oil the fretboard a little, but other than that it plays really well.

The neck profile is very similar to my Les Paul Junior; just as slim as my Derek Trucks SG, but the fretboard is a bit narrower. Really comfortable.

The finish is satin, but seems a lot glossier than the satin on the SG Future Tribute and LP Junior. More like a well-worn standard gloss (which I guess is the idea?). It has a bit of a buckle rash on the back, and a few dings and scratches, but it looks a lot better in real life than it did in the seller’s pictures. The headstock break is visible on inspection, but has been repaired very well. It’s not noticeable when playing.

It came with the standard black Gibson case. The case was in very good condition.

I haven’t had the chance to play it through an amp yet, but I’ll get back to that later. I had to take my youngest son to his table tennis practice...

The light is really bad for photos at the moment, it’s already dark when I get home from work this time of year, so I don’t have any good ones yet, but I’ll post some as soon as I can.

Knowing myself and my modding habits I guess I’ll swap pickups at some point, but I’ll definitely give the ones that are in the guitar a chance first.

On Thursday there’s a good chance I’ll be home from work early, and my wife is going out with some colleagues for dinner and a drink right after work, so I’ll have the opportunity to check it out properly then. I can hardly wait!

I snapped a few quick shots last night. None of them too good, but it will give you an idea. So far I'm really happy with it. I was hoping to use the guitar this Friday, as we were supposed to play with the band on the first Open Brewery Friday of the year, but I have a nasty, lingering cold and I'm totally unfit to sing as much as a single note, so the gig is off. Anyway, here it is:

It has a few dings, but they are largely invisible:

Not sure if I dig the "1960" on the pickguard, but that is a very minor detail. The original knobs were swapped for nicer top hats by the previous owner. The original ones are in the case.

The case on my rather messy workbench:
