My favorite is ebony, followed closely by rosewood.

I’d probably like pao ferro, though I’ve never tried it.

I’ve played some plain maple boards before and didn’t care as much for it. It was mostly a visual thing. I think I’d probably be okay with a baked maple board, though.

I’ve never tried any of the others that are listed.

I usually like all types of fret board wood but I love ebony so much that I've ebonized the rosewood on my 1998 Fender American Standard Strat. I made sure I cleaned the fret board really good with soap and water and let it dry. I then applied ebony wood stain that I've got from the hardware store onto the fret board and let it soak over night. I repeated the same process the next day to ensure a good soaking and penetration. Once the wood was dark enough I applied a few coats of raw linseed oil letting each coat soak over night. This helped seal the wood more and give it a bit of an ebony look close up. I find it turned out real well and I love the outcome.

That one Strat hanging beside the Les Paul Custom guitar...is the fret board scalloped by the looks of it? And is that an ebony FB on your Fender Strat standing on the floor?

;>)/

No scallops on the Strat. The one on the floor is a 1997 Strat Ultra, and yes it has an ebony fret board. That was the first Strat I had ever seen with ebony.

I like the ebony stain job you did. I might just have to try that on one.
