Polar Vortex

Two degrees Fahrenheit this morning in Boston. Warmed up to 18 or 20. It's a bit cooler now. January in New England. Nothing new. It's usually cold this time of year.

And your great leader Donald J. Trump makes democracy seem like an illusion me little BIG buddy!:)

;>)/

Reluctantly I reply; I have no beef with you Black, and I believe there is room for sarcasm here at TTR.
Regardless of the credibility of the "news" or what folks think of Trump's brash, arrogant personality, but an illusion of democracy? (I think he is a jerk personally)
That's a strong statement, even if in jest.

Supporting documentation:

It is not Trump or his supporters urging people to confront and "get in the face" of those they disagree with in every public place such as gas stations and restaurants (Google Maxine Waters, a very prominent Congressional representative from CA).

Or protest outside their homes and menacingly bang on the front door.
(google Tucker Carlson house attacked)

Multiple instances of someone beat up who is wearing a MAGA hat, or any other hat.
Or claims and reporting, later shown to be false or presented out of context, of Trump supporters taunting or confronting others.

Or the refusal to allow speakers on college campuses (campi?) with whom they disagree with and label everything they dont approve of as hate speech.
(google conservative speakers banned)

Or riot in hoodies and ski masks and destroy private businesses, burn cars, block off public streets when they dont get their way.
(google ANTIFA)

There have been individual right wing A-holes who have committed bad acts, but not any organized effort to silence opposing views: the very suppression of democracy.

@MODS - I will delete my post at your request. In such case, I would ask the same of other inflammatory or provocative statements.

I was just having fun with Chili since he brought up Nancy. It's all in good fun and I don't want to cause a political debate with me other forum members. We all get along good here so like you said there is some room for sarcasm. I just find it fascinating what's happening in the world today...it's like we're given a ticket to the freak show like George Carlin would say.

I dont want to ruffle anyone either, sorry for kickin' the dust up.
There is some much negativity; some deserved but lots of intentional false statements (not saying yours), maybe I over reacted.
i dont want to debate either.

I posted factual examples; this is probably just not the right place for them.
My apologies.

That's what I love about weather. It's not political. It's not about religion. It's not debating moral issues.... or gun control. It is what it is.

  • 28 below zero is freaking cold when you aren't used to it.
  • You can brag about surviving it.... "I survived the blizzard of 2011"...... "I survived the Polar Vortex of 2019"....... etc.
  • Tornado's and hurricanes suck.
  • etc.
From experience, I've been sucked into those "discussions" and they never end well..... So these days, I just don't go there. And make no mistake. I do have thoughts and opinions about our political environment in the States. Social Media just isn't the place to discuss it.
