PLEIXI IN A CAN

For $50 its a pretty awesome pedal from what i can hear. Used you can find one for about $30-35

My only complaint was it would have been nice to hear the pedal without the added multifx, to gauge a straight sound. What he has here is amazing sounding but it's kinda hiding the pedal being reviewed.

Agreed.

This observation is one of my main complaints with Youtube video demos. I mean, if the reviewer wants to show what the device (whatever it may be) sounds like with a bunch of other effects, that's fine. But, at some point, there needs to be a meaningful demo of the item's sound by itself. Believe it or not, some people may actually not want to add all the other stuff!

Precisely!

If a prospective buyer wasn't following along and paying close attention to a demo like this, the response would be " Wow! If i buy this, i will sound EXACTLY like that demo!" I could see a lot of guitarists starting out falling into this pitfall and being probably very disappointed, not realizing all the additional fx , settings and variables at play.

I did find a demo that largely is keeping it cut and dry, using only a looper to create a backing track. Pedal still seems quite nice!

 
I'll just stick with my Plexi.

So funny to me...an entire industry fueled by creating a dissatisfaction and/or desire for the next newest thing that will make you better and faster. I see all these new products as nothing more than musical winkie pumps.

All the iconic songs we listened to were made with a certain recipe. For the most part that recipe is a Gibson, Stratocaster and a Marshall

Why not just follow the recipe???

I spent a small fortune - some of you more and some of you less - trying to substitute the ingredients with dismal results.

A good deal of this stemmed from me being to f***ing cheap to fully commit to the recipe.

So, after selling off gear at - quite literally - pennies on the dollar, and giving a good portion of it away just to make more room in my studio, I grew weary of falling victim to all the musical mythology and hype.

After losing a small fortune on experimentation, I went back to Mr. Page's and Mr. Rhoad's time-proven recipe - a Gibson through a Marshall with "real" speakers - Made in the UK Celestions, not offshore imitations with a Celestion label.

Funny...my tone is better than ever.

And I devote more and more time daily to practice to become better.

I like the Gryphon on the Wreck. I noticed that right right away when you sent me that photo a couple of days ago. Perfect bit of personalization.
