Pink Floyd's ANIMALS released 40 years ago today...

Absolutely my favorite Floyd album. Brings back memories that's for sure.

I hadn't heard that album in years, but about a month ago I woke and couldn't get back to sleep. So, I put that album on....I made it about half way thru and zzzzzzzzzzzzz!

Just a great great album!

Pink Floyd sure had a lot of great albums including Dark Side Of The Moon and The Wall. I think the album Animals was a bit underrated compared to the other albums I mentioned. There are sure some great tunes on that album.

I stole that album from my parents. It was the first Pink Floyd music I had ever heard.

You're a thief! Let me see your collection of forks and other utensils.

I've said it before on forums:
Gilmour's work on Animals, and especially Dogs, is one of my absolute favorite things.

That was the album that showed me that Pink Floyd was more than just Another Brick in the Wall part II on the radio

Mhmm, to mee everything after Dark Side of the Monn belongs to their "late" work. I must be getting old...

Try putting Meddle on to go to sleep by. It was my favorite walkman cassette to do so while in college.

Why Old, Goo? Makes me feel like Floyd was really incredible at how innovative and unique their music was. Also, how their chemistry allowed the creativity to gel. Of course it is sad to someone like me to see the fracture that caused the end of things.

To have the likes of Richard Wright on keys, Roger on Bass and Synth etc, and even Syd in his better days.
To me who got hooked on music after the Floyd had maybe 10 albums already under their belt, they sure were something else.

I am sure there are not too many people who would call this song a classic or a masterpiece, but to me it is as amazing as Shine on Crazy Diamond, Brick in the Wall, Money, Eclipse etc.

ya i remember my study hall class in high school our Teacher, who looked like that Teacher from Welcome back Cotter would let us listen to records on Fridays. Dark Side of the Moon was a popular one,how bout Black Oak Arkansas or you ever hear of Atomic Rooster there Chilli ?

Meddle and Obscured by clouds are IMHO among their most interesting albums.

Atomic rooster: cool, and Carl Palmer on drums...

No Atomic Rooster, But Black Oak, sure. Good stuff there Goo
Used to dig me some Grand Funk Railroad, Brownsville Station, Three Dog Night, Frampton etc back in my Elementary school/Middle School days

I first heard Floyd while visiting my buddy, Kent who went to a private boarding school in Jersey when he came home to MD one time.

He had awesome Cerwin Vega speakers to hear it through and he had almost all their albums.
