Picks

Years ago I tried these. Probably still have them somewhere. Just couldn’t get comfortable with them. Find when I feel the need for picking I just go with bare fingers. Works for me.

That's the way I've normally done it, too. However, at times I don't like the muted, less bright result from bare fingers. Sometimes, that more muted tone is what you want. Other times, I want to keep the same type of timbre and volume while finger picking as I'd get with a flat pick. But, I feel finger picking gives more control for some types of passages.

I'm still getting used to them. I practiced with them for a couple of days, then I tried them at rehearsal (which is where I took that pic). They still feel a bit odd to me, but I'm gonna give it some more time and keep working with them to see how I get on with them.

Only way to get comfortable. Sometimes ya just gotta make yourself keep working at something till it becomes “muscle memory”. And that would be why I’m still just an average player.
