PHIL X -- was "right"?

Here's to subtle.....

Here's to Nuances

There's very little sonic difference that can be detected when equipment is changed up.

Let's clarify...

50 or 100 watt Marshall - No difference other than volume.

Mahogany or Alder - No one will hear a difference.

Greenback or Creamback - no perceiveable difference in a live band mix.

I've done all of the above examples personally.

The reason I keep coming back to this is I see guys spending thousands for a nuance that they never hear...then, spend more money to try and find it and they never do, because it doesn't exist.

EVH is a great example. Cheap strat body. Cheap neck. Simple humbucker. Lots of practice...

No one can say Neil Young doesn’t rock it loud. His primary setup......

At the core of Young's amplifier setup is a piece of gear as essential to his sound as Old Black: the 1959 tweed Fender Deluxe he's used since the late Sixties. A small, 15-watt unit, with just two volume knobs and a shared tone control, this amp, says Cragg, “makes all the sound.

Sometimes, less does work just fine.
