PG Spark Amp a Little Too Bass-y?...

I finally started using my Spark Pearl amp after having put it aside shortly after receiving it, but cannot get past the impression that it sounds too dark and bass-ey, lacking crispiness, clarity and well... spark. I could ask if it is just me or what have you, but by now I've come across quite a few articles online complaining about this precisely. I know that Leedspool has one, but has anybody else tried it and experienced this "muddy dark" overall quality of sound? Not sure I'm liking it that much, let alone loving it, as so many YT'ers have claimed in their channels...

I have one and I haven't experienced anything like that ( mine isn't the Pearl version) I've been really happy with mine, but PG needs to upgrade the library a bit.

Very often manufacturer will chop the high frequency to stop the noise.
Mostly hiss or buzz...
besides the preamp hiss, there could be switching power supply noise. This is a type of power supply which is lighter in weight and less expensive than conventional transformers. Often used for computers etc.
But besides being cheaper it can create high frequency noise in the audio.

too BASSY?????????????? is this a "thing" ?!?!?!?!?!?

I think not
That's the first think I noticed about the Spark. It sounded like there was a pillow over the speaker.
But it's really marketed to students who are learning guitar etc. It's a "first amp." Not too pricey, but it's useful.

No issue here but I am using a tele (Chapman ML3)

also played in a studio with a band and it sounded awe full oh hang on, that was me !! :)

it actually sounded awesome loud

I fell prey to Leedspool's incessant hounding last evening and picked up a used Spark. If the truth really be told, he did most of the leg work!

I guess I will have the chance to see what these are all about. I CAN corroborate his statement above that the Spark sounds surprisingly good at jam volumes.

lol

just find the right tones and ya good to go. I would not be without it now, playing along to songs is so good

This is absolutely true.

As a word to the wise, many of the cheaper “wall-wart” style 1Spot power supplies are switching power supplies. I have personally encountered issues where noise is induced into the chain by using a 1Spot. The problem goes away by switching to a traditional, transformer-based supply, such as a Boss power supply.

Now, it is possible to make a switching power supply that does not create the noise issues, but they are more high-end units that have some additional engineering. But, the common, inexpensive ones can induce noise into the system.

Too complicated for me

Ijust add my playing and it sounds bad, I never know if it’s a wall plug or my strumming and TBH I don’t care lol it’s all sounding rocking to me
