No.

His wife was also rude when she was in one of my guitar classes at Berklee...and full of herself.

Well-- I know some like him-- I can respect his skill for sure -- wish I could play half as good -- HELL I wish I could play half as good as CHAPPERS!

I notice the 2 have beards--- Ive never met either -- or spoken to either and I could be WAY OFF---but -- as a lifelong student of humans ---(purely for business purposes of course) I see 1 guy who has issues with aging and is very vain and another who seems to not give a crap and lets it roll--- OF the two----- Id be hanign out with Chappers -- John comes off as way to tightly wrapped for my liking ;)

but thats just me

His wife came off the same way...you may not be far off base. I don't care for his music anyway...

Wow, you're picking up a lot from one interview. I've been a fan of the guy for a long time and always found him to be gracious, pretty unassuming and generally humble. He also likes to talk gear and share his "secrets" with other players. You're getting 'vanity' from him here? I just see a guy who is at NAMM as a representative, probably on his 5th interview of the day, talking shop and trying to make it somewhat interesting to people who may not necessarily be a Dream Theater fan.

got the vanity from the overly dyed jet black hair in a man OBVIOUSLY old enough for some grey ---

I take no aim at his skills -- just his choice of coiffure-- I mena DUDE IS A MESA BOOGIE MAN after all--- so he cant be ALL bad.......

besides I like stirring your pot "G"man ;)

Haha, touche, Adrian. That's a helluva clip you found there, kind of a masterclass in prog-metal soloing.

As a fellow Mesa fan, trust me when I say that if you get a chance to play through a JP-2C take it! It's the best sounding amp I have ever heard but I just can't justify the price so I stick with my Mark 5.

A Mark 5 is a horrible HORRIBLE thing to have to settle for-- I feel for you sir ;) ;)

I guess I kinda said that wrong, huh? I am actually thrilled by the Mark 5 every single time I fire it up - in fact, it was the best sounding amp I had heard before they came out with the Petrucci model, so I can't say I am missing much of anything, and it does have a Mk II mode (although I use the Mk 4 and Crunch modes most of the time).

Ive yet to play a Boogie that wasnt stellar ;)

You and me both. I could go on and on about my tone chasing and all the money I wasted on vintage and boutique stuff, but the point is I ended up back with Mesas and I've never been happier with my tone. There might be amps out there that do their one thing better but there are no amps that do so many things so well and to my ears not a single one that do high gain better. And very, very few other amps that are built as well (and the ones that are tend to be a lot more money).

Ive said it several times-- Ill say it again -- the thing I like most about the F30 anyway-- is -- it makes EVERY guitar I own sound GOOD---other amps sound good with a Tele-- or a Strat--but NOT with a Lester and visa versa--- the Mesa no matter what I plug into it-- brand-- pups -- dolar value of the guitar-- the Mesa makes em all sound WONDERFUL

That is truth.

For instance Im presently playing a Squire JagMaster with 20.00 GRetsch KNOCK off Chinese pups through the Mesa-- and it sounds BOOGIE-rific!

FYI Gball-- this is the pick I am using right now-- and ANYTIME I use a pick
