I've always tried to keep the amount of money I spend on guitars proportional to my playing abilities.
I'm probably somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 to 1 on the money to ability ratio.

Edit: actually that's entirely not true. I had a Hondo DC once that was a pretty good guitar. I still regret giving it away.

Yeah, if I was a world class concert violinist, the cost of chasing a Stradivarius would make a ‘58 or ‘59 Les Paul look like chump change.

Once in awhile I get (mainly from my nosey brother) "What did that set ya back?"
My response is "Who cares? Why does that matter? No one's business but mine."
Just play it.

I have long dreamed of owning a Stradivarious guitar.
