People Always Ask: What Would You Buy if You Won the Lottery?

Really depends on how much. There is nothing that I need at this point in my life; it's all down to want. And what I probably want more than anything is to retire, so if I came across enough money to make that happen I would make sure my living arrangements are set and then quit my job and stare at the ocean along with my bride.

Seriously, I gain peace of mind that we can retire comfortably and be able to afford our medical care.

I guess purchases would depend on the amount, as @gball said.
Pay off this house, a little more roomy house would be nice; replace the almost 20 year old cars, etc.
Pay someone else when that 1999 water heater goes belly up @chilipeppermaniac

I dont really get the "wow" feeling of top end cars, bling and such anymore; I just want us to be happy, healthy, and I want to become a decent intermediate guitar player.
I would have more time to play.
I sure would buy some next level up over the gear I have.

I would like to travel; mostly to historic site like ancient Greece, Egypt, all the ancient American continent peoples site Mayans / Aztec/ Inca, Hopi, etc.
Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, etc.

I have retired once already and have income from that. I will retire for a second time in 7 years. Then add in my 401K, Social Security...etc and I'm set.
All my property is paid off so I only have to worry about taxes, food and utilities...

...and when I say win the lottery I mean the BIG $$$$!

Ahhh BIG money. The majority would go to investments to make sure I have enough for the rest of my days. Then, a house on a hill in Hawaii with a room insulated well enough that I can spend the rest of my days deafening myself with a Les Paul while not disrupting the wife too much.

I high school we used to talk about this a lot. "What would you do if you had a a thousand billion", we used to ask. One guy came up with the idea of buying two aircraft carriers, welding them together and have Pink Floyd play in one while Michael Jackson played in the other. (I'd go to the Pink Floyd gig for sure!).

These days my wishes would be somewhat more modest, I guess. I'd pay off all our debt, retire as soon as I felt like it, make sure my kids had some financial security in their future, and probably buy a holiday apartment somewhere warmer than Norway.

Then I would start looking at guitars and amps...

If the question is simply what guitar related stuff I would buy, the answer would change almost daily. Right now I would really like to have a Gibson Firebird I, a 1964/65 Gibson SG Standard (or the new 64 Reissue), and maybe a 1962 Fender Princeton or Deluxe, a late 1950s or 1960 Gibson GA-40, or a Fender Tweed Deluxe. It would be har dot choose. Luckily I don't have to, because I don't have the money...

Same here, I don't need anything (other than good health). I have 5 sisters and a brother, so I would pay off all their mortgages, buy them each 2 nice cars and then give each of them a million $.

I like the home we are in now, but there is no space to build a couple of nice out building (or wings). I like to have a 20' x 40' area for a wood shop and then a separate barn like building for music stuff. It would have a recording room, a stage room and a place for the guys to just hang out and BS and play.

Then I'd go and buy all of Joe B's guitars :pound-hand:

Agreed, Don...

I want a P-38 Lockheed Lightning, but I really have no need of anything. I derive a lot of satisfaction from helping others. I don't want any more guitars or amps. I'm super pleased with what I have. Now, if this Eagle's tribute band would be so kind as to hire me on full-time, I would be stoked.

If I ever one big money from a lottery, I would be able to help more people out there that are struggling. And of course pay off my kids mortgages. I would possibly buy a different house with a two car garage for my mancave. But even if I were to win millions, if you don't have good health the money is worthless. Having good health to me is #1 if the money comes along then its a bonus. My Wife and I feel quite fortunate to be where we are at , at this time of our life.

It's funny how no one can just have fun with the idea of spending money wildly...we all know we won't win the lottery, most don't even play.

Forget about everyone else and your health and tell me what you'd splurge on? There would be plenty left after you were kind and generous...

I LOVE music! It has saved me and kept me sane through many rough times. That is why I would build a house around the idea
of having a monster of a stereo system and listening room. Of course along with that my collection of records would have a place to grow immensly!

Maybe a recording studio to help struggling artists record and a record label to distribute the goods?

I've never been 'rich,' but when my salary was $8,448.00/month, I drove the same car, ate at the same restaurant and lived exactly the same as I always had. Fundamentally, I'm just a very happy guy and that's just natural and irrespective of my income. If I was to describe a 'splurge,' I would have to say I would hire a few well known musicians, form a super-group and tour the world... :-)

There we go! I'm not talking everyday life here, I'm talking winning $500 Million after taxes!

My salary is fantastic, but we don't spend hardly any of it...we never eat out because we are almost always disappointed with the food.
I work too much to travel a lot right now and neither my wife or me splurge on clothes anymore. I'm settling down on gear purchases...

...okay I'm trying to settle down.

My needs are simple, First I'd pave the dirt road that I live on, then procure two Ferrari's, a 1964 GTO
and a 2019 812 Superfast,

and a smokin hot inhouse Ferrari specialist with big boobs.

Of course I can only drive one Ferrari, so one would be a guest car. So, who wants to visit.
