Peavey Beantown Boom Stick

BUT, before I do, I had to buff it. Don wanted to leave it as vintage as possible. I immediately called him, we argued, and I won!

I used a bone nut to experiment on the setup, which I will throw in the case. Here are the results

Relief - 0.00. Still room to move on the TR

The neck angle needs to be adjusted to achieve lower action at the frets 15-21. This can be done by shim or the micro-tilt. I always prefer a shim. Miicro-tilts de-stabalize the neck by requiring the neck to balance on a small rod under tension, which is never good, and gets worse the more you extend it.

I know Don is more than capable of taking care of the shim, assuming he desires lower action on the higher frets

Yep, I can handle a shim if necessary. A little piece of hardwood veneer, and some sanding...good times. I promise that I won’t Jam a guitar pick in there...and I’m not a fan of the micro-tilt on the bilaminate necks. After finding the neck to be in the shape it was in, I believe that the micro-tilt may have been a contributing factor to the situation. I’ve also seen other evidence that convinces me to abstain from the micro-tilt.
I do occasionally visit the higher numbered frets...but not too often. We’ll see how it is, and go from there.

Ray made an excellent bone nut for it that has an excellent setup. The neck definitely will get a shim.
It’s going to be an amazing player when it’s shimmed. It’s a far better player as it is now!
The whole neck is easily playable!
Thank you Ray!!!
