Passive boosters

Problem solved. I did some wire jumping last night and noticed that the extra contact would short the side. So, the on/on spdt switch was shorting on the non boost side (the side with the empty prong). I dissembled the mini toggle and pulled a prong. Now the pups stay at normal volume when not boosted.

Switch to bass........plug it in and go BOOM....K.I.S.S. principal --and way less analyzation and stress

Seriously though (and I ask because I am confused)
how .....
Can something have "passive" boost?

if your boosting/altering/tweaking/adjusting/molesting/changing the signal in any way its no longer "passive"........ is it???

Correct. It is explained on page 1 of this thread. It is really just cutting highs in favor of mids, so it is often perceived as a "boost". It is more like a mid bump.
