Panama Loco "X"

OK, it would be pretty easy to pull the trigger on a Panama....BUT here is a question since I have a brand new table saw. Why not just close the back on my Peavey?

DO it--- the Panamas will always be around.

I closed the back on my Marshall Valvestate20 ---- used scrap I had lying around----improved the tone IMHO

HOWEVER --- on my Panama Cab (which is "convertible") I prefer an open back.......go figure.

PLay around with it---- dont cost nothing to close it up and if youj like it ---leave it--- if not .....search on

I can tell you, from experience, that a good cab or seven is a valuable asset for anyone with multiple amps, and guitars. Some amps will sound good with a certain cab, while others will sound like absolute sh*t through the same cab...it's weird. For instance; most of my amps sound, at least, good through my old V30 loaded Mesa Recto cab...but NOT the Tiny Terror...that sounds like burning bunk socks would taste...through that cab. Yep, it's bad...but the Tiny Terror sounds absolutely like the part in the movie where Godzilla stomps the sh*t out of his opponent(edit:for not finishing my sentence)when played through my Marshall 1960b. Completely satisfying.

I can relate---- the Tiny Terror I had for all of about 3 days sounded lie crocheted ASS with barbed wire yarn through the Panama cabinet--- the Panama Head and the Little Sexy OWegi tone amp sound great ---- so go figure.......and the Marshall 100 head ---- while it sounds awesome through the Panama cab (at low volume) it really needs a 4x12 or something to stretch its legs..........stupid me I HAD a damn Marshall 4x12 Cabinet I got for PENNIES on the dollar like 6 years ago ---- that I had no head at the time to even USE with it--- and I sold it ------ stupid ---stupid ---stupid.

And the old stand by that so many modern rockers love but for me its number
4 outta all the above sounds pretty good paired with my creamback though!

Bottom line all and any of the above are well the money spent and I doubt I ever let any of them go like fine wine or whiskey they get
better with age !

It seems that you feel the same way about Celestion speakers as I feel about WGS. I know that the WGS British Invasion series are their takes on Celestions, but made in America. I was too cheap/poor to try the Celestion offerings when I was beginning to set up my own cabs, and I was very happy when I did have the chance to compare my WGS loaded cabs to Celestion loaded cabs in recording situations. They stood up, but didn't always win out for the application at hand. They didn't always lose either. Some day, I hope to find an old Greenback loaded cab somewhere along the way...my eyes are always open for such a thing...and yes, I would like to try a Creamback too...hell, I'd take any of the speakers you put up other than the Celestion 100. I was not able to find a good match for those in any of my(and a couple of other) amps. But that's just my limited experience...it could have been the cab they were in.

That maybe I had been looking at another 1x12 cab and Avatar speakers was having a auction on a spanking new 4x12 loade with those speakers
and they build bad ass cabs it was the night a very well known trial happened to be airing I put a bid in like 222 dollars and I won it .
Knowing I was for sure going to ditch the H 100's as I don't like the 70 80's either at all.But I wound up talking with Dave at avatar about buying some other
speakers green backs etc to put in it and this why I really like the man any other salesman would have said ohh yeah yes let me sell ya some of these
Dave says you know what Frank listen don't buy 4 new speakers and spend 500 $ on that cab play those H 100's a few months and if ya still want 4
new speakers I work yout a decent deal I said okay but I'm betting I call you. Bet lost I have played everything from a 4 watt Vox night train to Jtm 45
and everything in between thru it and its good man now the cab is solid birch and very tightly closed back with a multi jack so I can run 4ohm -16ohm
thru it.
My experience was a bit more limited. They were under a 5150 head, in a 4x12, and virtually any other cab I had on hand blew it away. Now, that could have been because it was a new cab, etc... it was carried in to my studio to record a metal demo...
Avatar! What great cabs they make! Really good stuff! I was poor, and went with Lopoline before they sold out...and I was happy with them too. Good stuff there as well.
As I always say, "so much fun, so little time!"
