A week before Ian reared it's vile head in Florida, I was slowly driving up my driveway in another heavy rain storm.
All of a sudden, BANG and my car was covered in splinters of rotten oak.
A rotted branch had fallen on my car's roof. Scared the bejeezus out of me.

Didn't realize the magnitude of the damage till the next day, when I cleaned all the :poo: off it...

Ended up with the roof dented in on both sides of the strip that separates the roof from the sail panel.
I was sick about it:sick:

After calming myself and resisting the urge to pull the headliner out and hammer the roof back out, I contacted a PDR guy that was recommended on the Challenger forum. But he was in Indiana. So he put me in touch with a guy in Tampa, who put me in touch with the guy that did the job.
Turns out he lives within a few miles of me. He has a great little mobile PDR service and his shop on wheels came to the house.

Two hours later...

Like it never happened. He used a hot glue gun and a slidehammer. Everything was done from outside the car.
He charged me $200, I was so pleased with the results, I gave him $250 and then we drank some beer, in true Florida fashon.

Beer works well for bartering in northern Illinois as well.

I have a dent not as drastic on the door of my Audi, I wonder if they could do the same thing? I've gone to a bunch of repair shops and they want to take the door apart, refinish it, paint it, etc .... They want $2000 for a door ding.

Do you think they have a spot in New Jersey? I'll pay the 200 or 300 with pleasure.

Ask around. An Audi forum may be some help as well.
This was all done from the outside the car, with hot glue & a small slide hammer. Nothing had to be disassembled or painted.

He kept working it, studying it, working it again, etc...
A true artist at his trade.

That paintless dent repair is some next-level car voodoo.

There are a bunch of Youtube videos where some of these guys show themselves doing it. It really is amazing.

Last year we had a bad hail storm that peppered my Tacoma with hundreds of little dents all over the hood, roof and the entire drivers side. I took it to a local shop in town that was recommended by my insurance company. They did the paintless dent removal on it and I can't tell it was ever damaged. It took about a week to do it and was a $9000 bill that was all covered by my insurance, plus a rental car for the week.

Paintless dent removal is awesome!
