Our first paid gig with the new lineup

My band has gone through some changes. We changed the name to L.O.A. (Leave of Absence). My self and the guitar player/vocals are the only original members left. We have a female keyboard/vocals and a drummer that started out as a sub but seems to like what we do so he may become permanent. He plays in several bands so we have to schedule around him but he is awesome so it's worth it. We played on private gig a month ago but it was mostly friends and family and wasn't paid. This one was a strange gig. It was a combination fire making and chili cook off event, part of a three day logger's sports festival. We played in between heats of the fire making event then a small set after everything was over. It was hard to get a flow. Play three songs, wait twenty minutes, play two songs, wait ten, play four songs, etc, etc. It was fun. It was also very hot. It started at 6:00 PM and went until 9:30 PM. We were in the direct 87 degree sun for the first half. The picture was when we were playing White Rabbit thus the goofy hats the singers were wearing. The crowd loved it. It was the start of our last set. The guitar player came out and started strumming the chords, then the drummer came out, then I came out, then the keys. Jessica nailed the vocals. It is not an easy song to sing. It was nice going home with some cash in my wallet. The highlight of the night for me was after a set a young five or six year old boy ran up to me as I was stepping off the stage and said, "Hey mister. You sounded really good." Then he ran back to his parents.

Cool beans man. And I thought the hats rocked. Should be a permanent part of your gigs.
