I do get it. I think there is a certain tranquility that comes with being in a band that is basically just friends chilling and playing a few local gigs a year.
I get where you’re coming from.
Our band has chosen a pretty aggressive route. We’ve been getting more and more gigs and our leader is very proactive with marketing and we even work with a booking agent. Plus, we recently hired a lighting and sound engineer. Pretty much every gig involves setting up a projection screen and projector for graphics and effects, lighting (which may include assembling trusses, depending on the venue), and the PA. It’s a fairly labor intensive process. Honestly, given the complexity of my family situation and the fact that I have the least flexible schedule in the band, the thought has occurred to me that I may have to bow out at some point.
