Origin 20 goes to the dark side

Since Marshall didn't make a stealth version of the Origin I made my own. I talked about it in various places. Now it's done.

The new face plate was done by Sandy of Precision Designs. For fear of copyright issues she thought it best not to copy the Origin logo. Thanks to @fitz for the suggestion to call it the Stealth 20. Unfortunately she couldn't match the font, it must have been hand drawn or something, but I think it's pretty cool anyway.

I couldn't find a 6" black Marshall logo so I had to paint the one I had. Of course I screwed up the first try, but luckily I had a spare and I was able to try again. Thanks again to @fitz for your help on this. It came out great.

Replaced the handle with the gold ends to an all black one, changed the gold piping to black, and added some corner protectors.

I think it came out great and as far as I know, it's the only one. I like that, lol.

Amazeballs!!!

It's just coincidence that it matches up nicely with my EVH212. I never thought about that, the cab wasn't even in the same room or being used at all when I was planning this. It wasn't until I bought the corner protectors that I realized they were a lot like the ones on the EVH cab. That's the main reason I brought the cab back out. I need to finish cleaning up that grill cloth so it's more photo friendly. Those stains don't show in real life.

Wow, major improvement in aesthetics !

Steve, dumb unrelated question but did you have a monotone cab at one time , kind of different shape? Just wondering.

I have this Mojotone 112 cab...

I used to have this 212 cab that was a cross between a Marshall 1966 and a 2061 cab. 24 wide x 26 tall, but I sold it because no matter what I did I couldn't get away from the top angled speaker blasting me in the face. Even at at low volume it was annoying. That's when I decided I was done with angled top speaker cabs and bought the EVH cab. I'm guessing this is the cab you're thinking of...

Alright…home from work, and on something better that the phone…

Amazeballs Sir!!!
Absolutely Amazeballs!!!
Looks fantastic! Loving the all-black vibe!

Now….please, kindly pull that grill cloth, and hit that lone silver T-nut with a black sharpie or something…it is the only distracting visual(to me) of the whole rig. ;)

That damn thing drives me crazy! It's the only one that's like that and I do need to clean the grill cloth. I never cleaned it properly and when I removed the EVH logos there's some adhesive left behind. The dirt and dust only shows in photos, but that one T-nut, ugh.

I like to think I’m pretty easy going with that sort of thing…but I’ll admit…the only way I could deal with that would be an “all or nothing” sorta thing…if they all showed like that one, then fine….let it be…it is an “industrial” vibe.

I've just had so many things going on and like I said, I haven't been using the cab. I only have one speaker hooked up in it, the used ET65 I told you about, and it sounds incredible! I'm now trying to figure out if I can put an additional jack on the back (or if a stereo jack would work) to have 2 speakers wired to separate jacks so I can choose between to different speakers, or run 2 heads into 2 separate speaker jacks to run 2 amps in stereo with one cab instead of 2 separate cabs. I don't even need the "212" option, I like running just 1 speaker in this cab, like a giant oversized 112.

Edit: I figured it out. Adding a second jack would be a lot cheaper and easier anyway, and I'm sure more reliable. A stereo jack will not work for what I want to do anyway.

I did my 2x12 with two jacks, and a heavy amperage on/off switch wired to run the jacks in parallel. Off position on the switch isolates each speaker jack. It still makes me nervous when running stereo(off position). However it shows no bleed through when switched to off.

If I were to do it again, I’d put 3 jacks on the plate, wire one jack direct to one speaker(solo), wire two jacks in parallel to the other speaker, and plug a jumper cable from the parallel jack to the solo jack when wanting to run 2x12 mono..rudimentary, but reliable.
Maybe that will be my next “rainy day” project.

I don't know if you saw my edit. I don't want to make this complicated and I certainly don't want any reliably issues.
