One of my prized top ten possessions

OK, not a guitar. Went to Pearl Harbor in 2013. Bought what was the best item of the trip and is now one of my prized possessions. A few decades ago I was given a flag by a military friend that flew over the Arizona and thought that was a very special gift. So, we found out that if we bought a flag at Pearl they would let us fly it on the Arizona memorial. I bought the biggest flag they had in honor of my uncle Jack, my dad's older brother and his best buddy, whom I never knew, who was a B-25 pilot killed in 1944 in the Pacific. The flag we bought at the Arizona memorial store had previously flown over the Arizona on December 7, 2012, how cool (we got a certificate stating such). Then we go out to the Arizona and the ranger helps getting the line ready and all kinds of guys come over asking to help. Very nice touch. Karen noted that when I was raising the flag almost everyone there stopped what they were doing, took off their hats, put their hands on over their hearts and took pictures. After we bring it back down and we (me and 2 veterans) are folding it up, the ranger gives me a second form, with the date and time flown, that I can send and get a second certificate. Then I mention to the ranger that we are going to the Missouri tomorrow and she says, take the flag with you, they will let you fly it there too. I thought how cool, a flag flown on December 7th and then flown by us on the place where it all started and then flown on the place where it all ended. A solemn tribute to uncle Jack!

I fly it 3 times a year, Memorial day weekend (OK 3 days for that), Veterans Day, and Pearl Harbor day. This is a shot of it flying today, not much wind though.

Nice to see.
We in Australia don't show our pride of country "OPENLY" but don't for a moment think we lack such.
I fly my Australian flag on ANZAC and Australia Day, my Union flag on Armistice Day and my wife's Manx flag on Tynwald Day.
