One guitar just isn’t enough......

I definitely still have gas for more amps.

That's my main thing at the moment I think. I have three "main" amps (one is currently on load to a bro in need but will be getting it back soon) and 3 "practice/travel" amps. I feel like another or maybe two more that do things these don't would round it all out.

@67plexi Cant go wrong with that basic tool kit.

If I only had one it would be 100% better than none.
I like having a variety but I tend to play the same 1 or 2 for weeks instead of switching around all the time.
Depends on what I am playing most or if I just changed or modded something.

35 years ago I was just fine with my 1961 Les Paul SG and 1972 Les Paul custom
Then my guitar teacher 1984 thanks to Guitar Trader I had 65 Pre Cbs Strats.
Due to accidents and medical and divorce rape I have had to sell off most of my collection
Never lost a dime on vintage USA made guitars or amps.
I have gifted a lot of guitars through the years today a friend that just went through a nasty divorce
I just sent him a custom shop Les Paul Standard enjoy BRO.

Well I have 4 guitars and each of them get a workover. They don't sit and collect dust that's for sure. I like all 4 of them. Really in all honesty why does someone need more than 2 guitars , you can only play one at a time. How can I say this, I have 20 Radio control Aircraft, when I started the hobby I kept building one to two planes a year, there was a reason for that yes I liked the different planes, but I was building up for retirement , so I had planes to fly, also factoring in crashes which could include rightoffs, so I continued to build for this reason also. But I can only fly one at a time. Now that I am retired I fly the same 3 planes now. The others are collecting dust. The thing I am saying is I could get by with no issues with two guitars and that might come at some time. For now I have 4 and I play the strings off of them. I like my four Sons. Will I continue to purchase more guitars, probably not, in time I might sell one and replace it with another Godin, Like the Summit Convertible.

When I was still skating I had a different board set up for each of the different parks that I skated, to try to optimize to the specific shapes and contours. So I had I think 9 or 10 skateboards, when 1 or 2 could have done. Same with the guitars, different tools for different sounds and feeling. Surely 1 or 2 would suffice for a hobbyist but since It's my hobby I also obsess and part of that is manifested in having more of the things than I strictly need (or my wife prefers).

The basic tool kit, Fender Esquire, Fender Stratocaster, Gibson Les Paul Standard, Gibson SG Standard.

I go for pretty much the same basic tool kit. Tele, Strat, SG, and Les Paul.

I also like having a couple of extra colors for the pallette. Firebird, RIckenbacker, and Gretsch.

Sometimes, I like to break out of the normal Gibson/Fender box.

Well gball I am definitely not judging, it makes no difference to me how many guitars one buys. I could afford to buy many guitars and my Wife would not have an issue with it. For me the 4 guitars I have cover every aspect of playing I want to do and more. I could get away with two and be happy. There are those that are collectors, there are those that play Professionally and then there is Hobbyists like me. There is no right or wrong only opinion. As I get older I find I like to keep things more usable and manageable than collecting things, that just sit around with no purpose.

I'm always going direct to the bass player's house from a job site. I don't like to leave guitars in the car all day where I can't see them, or deal with temperature extremes. I usually just take my Burny SG. Like this week, I'll be working in Southern Maine every day, then rehearsing in Central Mass. on Tuesday night. The two hour drive should warm the guitar up some before jamming. It's not like I go to the same job everyday, and can stash a guitar inside a building.

I keep threatening to leave a guitar or two at his house, but we play too sporadically for me to want to leave guitars there, on top having some amps and the P.A. system, and other goodies there. Oh, the drums are mine too. He has enough of my junk there.

I also would only take one guitar to rehearsal. I've broken 2 strings in 35 years and they were both high E while tuning.

I have an office, so if I travel with a guitar after work it comes in with me. Can be quite the conversation piece on occasion.
