Old Debate . . . New Thread

yesterday...we played 27 guitars into 9 amps & 9 basses into 3 rigs

Conclusion for me/i sound like me no matter what & certain guitars flavor a lil dif but could use any of em with EQ tweaks

Marshall from hard rock up(palm mutes-down tune-probably never again as i age)
Fender-found the mojo for my style ..set & forget with a RAT to EQ shift

Guitars..whatever feeling but 14 SGJ with 61 alnico could be the only 1 needed

Bass-P into Ampeg SVT or PF

now thats just me & my preference..only thing gonna do anything to my tone..is PRACTICE

been screwing around on internet way too long since accident..it showed on first song or 2 in studio this year..now..this xtra gear got to go..its a major distraction but it took going thru it to get to my happy zone....stripped my playing area this week...Fender amp 1 side-Ampeg bass amp other..feel relief....

just today i sold
Epi SG iommi
Epi SG 66
Marshall jcm 900
Ibby sc420
Ibby RG320
ESP LTD 7
Yamaha fg

I'm selling off a lot myself. I just don't need it all and it looks like shoulder surgery is imminent.

"Same predictable sound from me all the time....lesson in last year....PLAY...but i am not into gear tho for the hobby....into music..i get sucked into the vortex of thinking i am missing something..only thing missing is PRACTICE to manipulate what gear i have for what musical job is thrown at..."

not sure where that came from..lol...but all i know is the playing time is way up vs taking things apart

Here's the diagram copied from the above article. What Dirk Wacker is saying, is to switch the #2 and 3 connections of the volume pot. So the hot leads from the pups will be connected to the volume pot's middle (#2) lug, and the volume pot's output wire will connect from the volume pot's "#3" lug to either one of the input lugs of the selector switch... Right? …

And my Hamers with 2 volume pots and 1 tone pot are wired like this:

Nice....

ahh man srry bout the shoulder...

Thanks, just another day under the knife. Seems like they come more often these days. I never had a broken bone all my life and only a few stitches.

This will be my third surgery in about as many years...

Is it a simple, clean-out type of surgery, or something more severe?

Not sure yet, doc took xrays and MRI. I have to have a consult next week, but it's looking like a surgery. Hopefully minor!

So are you sending me an G&L or no??? --- never really got a SOLID answer on that

DONT send me a Dumble--- Ill never use it---

Oh. No. Sorry to hear that man. My right shoulder is a disaster zone: dislocated and tore the rotator cuff (along with 4 broken ribs) skateboarding, about 6 years ago. Then, not long after it finally healed, dislocated/tore rotator/broke collar bone/5 broken ribs in a mountain biking "incident" that has left the whole area a mess. I have some sort of pain and discomfort every day. Loss of motion, and moving my shoulder is a series of pops and shudders - and after the collar bone break my right shoulder is about 2 CM shorter than the left one. I do go to the gym every day, and I put a lot of effort into keeping the muscles in my shoulder strong, which helps minimize the pain, but it'll be with me the rest of my life.

My friend latched on to my dads car while on his skateboard. My dad thought he let go and sped up...the road rash was ridiculous! He was wearing shorts and nothing else. He was scraped up from head to toe. Huge flaps of skin in some places! But nothing broken and he never went to the hospital. We cleaned him up at home and bandaged the $hit out of him!

I still try and ride on FLAT surfaces...maybe a mild hill. Last time I went down a steep hill I got high speed wobbles and almost crapped my pants.
Didn't dump it though, but never went down another steep hill...that was about 4 years ago on my cruiser board...

oh man.. got to dig my Dogtown stuff out now..lol

I have a real nice Dogtown Board from Wes Humpston. Never been on wheels. I'm actually related to him! Humpston and Humiston both come from
Humberstone in the UK. There is a town and river named Humberstone in Leicester where our names derive from...
