Ok, I’m excited.

Picked up the wiring harness and installed it on Thursday. Working perfectly. The pots are really smooth, and there is seemingly no hum in anything. The slug tape I use fro shielding works perfectly. The only things remaining are the backplate and tenon cover. I recon I'll have them here Monday or Tuesday, as long as the transport is not affected by the corona virus. Here's how things look at the moment:

Your'e giving me a severe case of SG envy.

I have been temporarily laid off from work because of the corona virus restrictions imposed by the government here in Norway. All bars, kindergartens and schools were closed yesterday. This means the brewery has lost 80 % of its income, and thus ensemost of the workforce has been laid off for at least 14 days.
Ok, that makes sense. All kinds of crazy stuff is happening here too.

To point 2 only. But the rest of the components are connected by a different ground wire as well.
Ok. So that's some extra length of wire just dangling there?

How are you liking the TTops? Gahr
I dig T-Tops. I have late 1960s T-Tops in my Les Paul Goldtop and now also in my Derek Trucks SG. The 1965 SG Standard has the pre T-Tops that were previously in the Derek Trucks.

The T-Tops have a nice and focused pass with a sweet presence in the highs. It never gets shrill and there's no roominess in the neck pickup in either of the two guitars. Love them to bits.

That looks great Gahr! Congrats!

Sorry about being laid off.
Thanks, John.

The Norwegian parliament have passed some new bills to help people through the corona crisis. This means I'll be paid in full for the first 20 days of being laid off. Businesses will have the dates for VAT payments and other bills to the state delayed, but the economy will be hit REALLY hard. I am genuinely worried the brewery will have to close down. And even if it survives, a lot of our customers (bars/restaurants) are likely to go bankrupt, so we might be left without anyone to sell the majority of our beer to. The whole of the brewing industry has the same problem here at the moment. Most of us have been laid off. I just talked to a friend (drummer I used to play with) who works as a sales guy for a brewery we own 10 % of the shares in. He was just laid off too, and fears he'll be out of work in a few weeks. My brewery is in a fortunate position in that our two biggest shareholders are filthy rich, so we might be able to secure loans from them, but we'll struggle for months to come, even if the strict quarantine and closing of the bars only lasts for a short while.

I'm just glad I bought what I needed to make this guitar playable before the crisis hit.:) Because it will be a long while until I can do anything like this again...

With your high taxation rates going towards a strong social support system, I presumed Norwegians would be a lot better off than most countries, certainly the US and UK.

Europe is certainly behaving really strangely. We went through these processes a month or two back in Korea, and I just can't understand why European countries didn't follow the Korean model, making improvements/localisations where possible. Korea seems to have settled down to a 'comfortable' place where the hospitals are not being overwhelmed and people can, with sensible precautions, go about their business relatively normally - best of luck that'll happen for you too. Korea is very home delivery orientated, I doubt beer sales are down much although bar/venue revenues will be massively down. Maybe, after the initial shock, folks will buy beer and drink it at home rather than at the bars, and your business will pick up.

Great guitar though. What amp do you most like playing her through?

I haven't been able to test it much through my different amps. So far only thgough the Gibson GA-20T, at av very conservative volume. Sounds really nice, though. Both my kids and wife are at home as well. Kids doing schoolwork and the wife working from home, so I can't disturb them much. I already knew the pickups, so I'm not surprised it sounds good. But I will probably want to change the saddles on the bridge I'm using. I bought a set of nylons for a bridge I had lying about, and they muffle the sound just a tiny bit too much to my linking. My Derek Trucks also has nylon saddles that sound great (a Faber bridge, I think), so I'll get something like that, if I don't go vintage right away. For now, what have is more than acceptable though, and I can always change back to steel if I want to.

The problem with beer sales is how and where people drink. People drink beer at home, but not necessarily a whole lot when they are isolated with their families alone. And we don't have major deals with all the supermarket chains (neither do any of the other smaller breweries), so shop sales will be low for a long time, I'm afraid. We need the pubs to open again for the business to get back on track.

That's interesting about the nylon saddles affecting guitars differently, makes sense. I suppose in a standard you have more options to get your sound right. It'll be nice to play her though one of your more boisterous amps.

Korea had a bit of a fit initially, then when folks started to understand the virus and how to take basic safety steps then things got back-ish to normal. The young seem to have decided it won't hurt them, so they pretty much carry on as before. Other folks get bored of staying at home after a week or two and start to go out more... The main thing is to stop ICU units being overwhelmed with cases that take 2-4 weeks to treat - countries just don't have the capacity. Britain and Australia have started doing age related stuff: times when people over 60 only can shop; asking the over 70s to stay at home for longer periods. It's probably not a problem for younger folk to be out and about in bars, as long as they don't go visiting their grandparents afterwards...

But, it does seem that bars and pubs are being hit hard. Airlines and the travel industry too.

It seems to me like the two sets of nylon saddles I have are different in some way. Maybe the grooves are affecting the sound, or maybe the materials are different somehow.

I just got a call from work by the way. I have to go to work to brew tomorrow, so at least we're still in business for now.(y)

Got the tenon cover and backplate today.

I had to scrape away a bit of plastic to get the plate to fit, but it was anessy job to fix it. The tenon cover sits a bit too far to the right to be symmetrical in relation to the neck, but I used the excisting screw holes, so I guess this is how it was placed originally.

I think I got a pretty nice guitar out of this!
