You dont.I have to train my mind to never think of food as something to enjoy anymore, but for merely the minimum intake needed to keep alive and keep the diabetes at bay.
You dont.
I suppose it is a matter of perspective, and right now the whole situation feels very negative to you.
You are a pragmatic, solid individual - you will sort out how to make this work for you.
Some foods / drinks you should avoid.
Some you can have but in smaller portions and less frequency.
You can have joyful food experience, but also with a focus for function.
This is the balance I mentioned earlier.
You can train your mind to appreciate and enjoy some of those foods even more - thus more joy, but less often / smaller portions.
What you used to take for granted, now becomes special because it is less common.
Yeah, basically it's all about carbs, and those are relatively high in carbs. One time my sugar went dangerously low, I had five bowls of Cheerios, it was like heaven because I hadn't had them for a long time, it was great!
I wish you and I could have shared my dinner I made last night. ( Kind of a cheat indulgence)
OMG if only I could have thoroughly enjoyed it without the grrr of " sure hope I don't wack myself out like a mofo from this"
Made 2 nice T bone steaks and a Baked Potato. Of course, I only ate 1/3 of one steak and 1/2 of the potato. Normally I might eat an occasional 1/2 of one steak and have veggies/salad to go with steak and eat a 1/2 potato with sour cream n butter. Save the steak and other half tater for later.
As the Dr said. eat moderately and I will be ok.
